Emperor's Sword
I didn't like the flames on the sword that game with Guilliman, so I sanded them off. I tried to keep the "IMPORTANT SWORD" vibe by painting it gold. I hope that pays homage to the sword's previous owner, the Emperor of Mankind.
I actually like this much better fluff wise. Prior to it lighting on fire for just anyone, the emperor used it to fling psychic fire, not push a happy pyro button. Good improvement.
I imagine the Emperor as being wreathed in a golden aura. If he picked up a butter knife it would exude an aura afterwards. I suppose GW is trying to tell us that Guilliman is the new Emperor with the flames, but I'm not a fan. The Admech Techpriest who built this armor was some kind of filigree fetishist.
Thank you! I'm really happy with the painting. A little less so on my cleanup of the plastic after removing the flames. Photos always seem to reveal more flaws!
That is sublime! Far better than I had imagined it when you described your idea.
ReplyDeleteYes! Great execution

DeleteThat is looking very well, can't wait to see it on the model.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful transitions ... love the effect!

DeleteWow, I absolutely love this sword. I realise I'm way late asking, but what paints did you use to achieve this effect?
DeleteLook great! Nice idea for a variant.
