Castellex Battle-Automata Based
The Battle-Automata is complete! I was worried about the amount of weathering initially, but after I added highlighting, pigments, and dust, I think it turned out great. This was definitely a case of the model looking better completed, than in process. I have 6 thallax and one Castellex of my own to build, but I think I will wait a while. The new Imperial Knights look fantastic, and since they exist pre-heresy, I think they will look spectacular alongside my Sons of Horus. At the moment I think a black and white heavily weathered force will look the best. My troops are EC purple, and SoH mint, so those colors will fit nicely. Knight houses aligned with the Deaths Head Titan Legion will provide a little bit of traitor flavor to the force.
Hopefully this will convince my friend to start a heresy era force. Using this robot just for Malifaux would be a crime!
*edit just added fresh oil to all of the hydraulics and pistons. It makes a huge difference!

Castellex Battle-Automata
next steps.....purit seal, then more work on the metallics. The legs will get dusted with graveyard earth paint (or whatever the new one is called) and he'll be added to a scenic base.

Sons of Horus Loyalist Contemptor Survivor WIP
This dreadnought is meant to look like he survived the bombing of istavaan III. These are essentially the base colors, from which rust, battle damage (highlighted since a lot is sculpted in), and grim streaks will be added. This guy should look like he has been to hell and back. I haven't decided if the power claw needs blood and gore. It is a strong possibility since that will add a contrasting color and finish.

Legion Outrider Squad
I thought I'd share a quick peak at my WIP legion Outrider squad. The weathering and dusting on the tires is not done, but since I've not seen anyone else paint these particular models up I thought I would share.
After painting the marines themselves, it makes me never want to paint plastic again. The edges are just so sharp these were a joy to paint.

Emperors Children Color Test
I had a bad day at work. Usually that means I am not in a very good mood when I get home, and I can't enter the kind of painting zen necessary for painting to be fun. Knowing this, I decided to grab an old twice painted miniature and just test out a potential purple color scheme for my ECS. Why not do the low stress version of painting. I know that if I tried a color test on one of my forgeworld moldels I would have been worried about the outcome.
On this mini everything besides the purple was splashed on, just to see how it would contrast color wise. I didn't even bother to paint the storm shield, and the thunder hammer is just washed boltgun metal. I think the miniature served its purpose though. I think I need my ECS to start with more of a blacker navy blue base.
What do you think? Keep experimenting with purple, push the highlights, or accept this as is?
