Army Color Pallet

Today I finally got to see what the finished army will look like. Even though the vehicles are still in their base coats, and only a few bases are done, I can see how the color pallet works. I am pleased. If I keep up at this pace, I'll have the whole army done Friday, which means I can paint up some Fantasy miniatures for Age of Sigmar.

Age of Sigmar.

From what I see I like it. The rules are short and sweet, with complexity built into the war scrolls. Free rules and war scrolls also appeal. If the game is as fun as I think it is going to be, then you'll start seeing some high fantasy miniature painting show up on here.

    1. Thanks. I am really happy with them. They've got some really gestural bits, but overall I think they are going to look really good all based up. The secret sauce this time was Storm Cloud was from secret weapon miniatures over a German uniform base coat. The gloss finish surprised me, but was really nice after a matte coat.

    2. The gestural effect works well on them I think. Looking forward to seeing more ;)

  2. As pessimistic as I am about Age of Sigmar, I definitely count it as A Good Thing that it's inspiring you to play the game, and, better yet, paint fantasy models. Can't wait to see them!

  3. Awesome work John. I just love your vehicles so much. They make me miniature giddy.

Though I feel for the fantasy players (i just imagine it happening to 40k), i think its a good move forward overall, and I think if something similar happened to 40k, though we'd all be upset, a smaller gameset with tighter rules and alternating activation (which then would make random activation easy to implement!) would be really awesome.

Some guys have already been playing with the AOS rules on twitter, using 40k guys....

    1. I feel bad anytime somebody's favorite game is killed. Gamers are fickle and tend not to play games after support ends. A 40k reboot would be great. (The setting is fine) Maybe our narrative gaming club should tackle a 40k mashup. How many irks do you have? I think we need green tide levels for the game I want to play.

    2. I have very few orks painted up to any quality. Maybe 20 decent, and maybe another 36-40ish of utter crap quality. (Greggles first paint job). Now walkers, I have 17 walkerS :)
