Primaris Repulsor WIP 2

I had to matte coat the model in order to see the streaking, which makes the process pretty weird, but I'll be able to go and work on the streaking layer after removing matte sections as needed. Goofy, but the semi-gloss made it way too difficult to see.

This Primaris force is meant to look like it has been giving a beating to chaos. No reason to make a war machine look new!

  5. Thanks for the comments guys! The weathering is done using a chipping medium. I first painted the tank dark brown, and then sprayed on several coats of AK-Interactive chipping solution. Once that was dry I painted the blue. At the very end I used a cocktail toothpick to scratch in the rust spots. It physically removes layers of paint which is why it looks good. While doing this I got the tank a little too wet and ended up with areas under my thumbprints coming off. After chipping the tank is sprayed with semi-gloss lacquer to protect the paint and prevent any more chunks from coming off. Then I used oil paints to smear rust streaks down the hull. The last step is matte varnish. However, in this case I'm going to use white spirit to cut through the varnish in order to access enamels and oils that still need a little modification.

  6. Lovely work, man! Really dig how that's coming along - I too left off the stowage from the back and definitely think it looks better for it. Good stuff!

    1. That is from the Horus Heresy FW Ultramarines decal set. It is well worth buying if you paint Ultramarines.
