Battle for Salvation

The Battle for Salvation GT is next weekend, so after being drafted into a painting invitational, I decided I had to add a little lighting to my display board.  This worked out well, since I've wanted to make tea lamp smoke markers for a while. I only wish I hadn't broken two of the lamps during construction. It would have been nicer to have all four so each vehicle had a dedicated destroyed marker.

I haven't mastered the cotton shaping in to smoke plumes yet, but I think it is going to look good in the end.

Yep, that is the 11th company podcast in the background. Neil, let's paint a rhino.

My BFS army. So, how broken is Adamantine Lance? I have to convert the rhino into a razorback, but then I think I am done.

  1. Yay it's John! Those look great john. I've been meaning to make something like that for awhile. Would look great in video bat reps!

I think you missed it the other week, but do you play at the GW in sterling? I'm working on crazy narrative lists for next years NOVA, and a ork walker list for the las vegas open. Will need some choice opponents to krump up!

Btw weathering pigments are insane. They are SO STRONG. I put the tiniest dab of sewer muck on one of my bases...instant nurgle base!

    How the blood angels doing?

    1. I paused in my 40k painting for a bit, but I finished the LR. I have been experimenting with Bolt Action modeling, and have been having a blast.

I am happy you jumped into pigments. They are strong, messy, and just awesome all around. Try mixing some with plaster to make mud. You can mix in static grass, sand, and just gloop it on.

I have no idea where Sterling is! The springfield store is my normal haunt if that is anywhere near you.

    2. Er that is what I mean. The springfield store! (bottom of 495 or there a bouts). Is there a particular day you normally stop by? Or just hap haphazardly depending on mood?

Oooh I'll try the plaster stuff. So far having a blast trying James shaded basecoat and throwing pigments on stuff until I figure out how it all works. Should result in something cool eventually I'm sure!

Post some of the bolt action stuff!

  2. This looks amazing. I believe Armies on Parade is a few weeks away too, you should drop by your local GW with this force! Is there a base for the third Knight? I can't quite see it in the pictures.

    1. There is a base, but it does not fit on the display board. The board was made for a purely 30k force with no knights, so it just does not fit.

I thought armies on parade was canceled due to games day US being canceled. Looks like part of this force will show up at the springfield store.

  3. Oh and john. Admantium lance isn't that broken. It mainly serves as an anti-alpha strike bonus. After 1 or 2 turns, it becomes a liability. Keeping the knights within 6" of each other slows them down considerably (it's a huge foot print) due to move through cover rulings, and if one happens to blow up, it almost always takes a second one with it (they are close enough that any scatter can be REALLY bad).

  4. Looks good all together. With your snow plumes, try an hour glass shape instead of inverted cone. Smoke naturally tries to dissipate so will be larger at the top. I like the bases, never thought to disguise the tea light like that :)

  5. Nice stuff. Hair spray and batton for upholstery work much better for smoke markers. Next time try that and them hit e'm with the AB. Also different colors tea lights like the crazy colors you get around halloween can make different markers like psychic power markers.
