30K Imperial Knight WIP 2

I've added some color to the armor of the Imperial knight. The idea is to tone down the flashy knight colors and go with a scheme that will work well with my Sons of Horus army. There is a load of work to do, including repainting the view screens, and tightening up the panel lines, but this guy is starting to come together. I am really looking forward to adding rust, oil streaks, and grime streaks to it.

  3. Hey John, looks awesome. But it seems that your airbrush had a bit fo dried paint on the tip, leading to that splattery effect. Or was that intentional?

    1. Good eyes Tim. The paints I am using for my Sons do not take well to any of the thinners I use. If you have any suggestions please let me know. I am either going to weather the affect away, or blend some paint over it. I struggled with the airbrush this time for some reason. Hopefully the end product will be more than the sum.

    2. What brand is that? I would just say be sure to clean the whole brush and maybe increase the psi. I mix my paints with vallejo satin varnish and a little water but I occasionally get that effect if the needle gets a speck of dried paint on the tip.

    3. I am using and IWata HP-C and a Grex Tritium at 50 psi. I think I should turn it down. That might be the problem. It works perfectly for GW paints, but struggles with the reaper masters series range.

  4. 50 psi is quite high. 35 is my highest. Lots of folks got way lower like 15 psi.
