I've really fallen hard for the Warlord Games Epic scale Punic Wars game. I have the Warlord Games plastics as well as great STLs from Cromarty Forge. At the moment I'm treating them as separate projects.

Punic Wars Models in Epic Scale.

Vixtrix War Elephant
I'm really enjoying painting all these historical models. They have so much character, which I think offsets the lower quality plastics. GW definitely makes the best kits. It is a shame they never made historical ones. The only problem with my 28mm army is that I bought into the 15mm boxed set from warlord. I'll be painting all of these miniatures again at a smaller scale. I guess that is what happens when you take years to complete a project.

Victrix Numidians for Hail Caesar
Rounding out my Punic wars force is another unit of Numidians. They were more famous for their cavalry, but I'm fond of these heavy infantry models. Shield transfers are from little big man studios.

Victrix Gallic Cavalry for Hail Caesar
I bought into 28mm Punic wars before the epic scale was announced, so these will eventually be repeated at a smaller scale. One thing the larger scale provides is excellent shield transfers. These are from Little Big Man, and are excellent. They make the model. I'm not sure the paint job even matters with shields this cool.

Numidians
These are Victrix Numidians which will be used as part of a Carthaginian army for Hail Caesar. For having only four bodies, the arm and head options somehow make the work. However, the idea of painting three more blocks of them is daunting. Fortunately there are so many options for Romans to ally with or fight. I may need to switch it up for a bit and paint some Germans.

Gauls For Hail Caesar
I've been having fun using speedpaints to paint miniatures that I might otherwise not paint. Speedpaint is just satisfying to use. I am a long way off from having enough models for a Hail Caesar game, but progress is being made. Now the questing is whether I keep painting models for this army, or I start my Italian wars Pike and Shotte army. The temptation is to just flitter around like a magpie.
