Old School Whirlwind & Razorback

After a wonderful NOVA Open, I needed a painting break. So, I did what many long time collectors do. I dug down to the lowest, dustiest, most forlorn part of my collection and pulled out some janky old models. I never had these when new, but I managed to cobble them together after a few years of convention bits collecting. As damaged as these were, I knew they needed to be weathered heavily. So with the freedom that comes from painting purely for the experience, I set to work and painted these over an evening. I'm happy with them. I think they can stand with any of the modern kids. (provided you don't look to closely for gaps!)

  1. Looking nice! I've always had a soft spot for those, particularly the Las/Plas Razorback build, even tho it's never actually been particularly good.

  2. Fantastic work, man! The old Whirlwind holds a particular soft spot for me, had a trio that were the bane of my buddy Dave's existence back in 3rd ed.!

  3. I have these in a heartbeat! Having painted my own Predator and Rhino I'd take these over the newer model any day. Not that I don't think the new Rhino isnt awesome, it's just these are awesomer!

  4. Have a soft spot for Las Plas Razorback, think it’s only in Index now? I converted one from a FW Las turret and two Plasma Guns, but the original was awesome goofy.

    1. Thanks! I find it really freeing as well. Nobody expects much with these ancient models.
