Primaris Ultramarines Army So Far

I have had the bases completed for this army for a while, so I sat down today and based all of the new Primaris marines that I have painted. I really like how the force is coming together, but I am having some trouble with my dull coat, which is peeling off in some areas due to me handling the model. It is an easy fix, since all I have to do is respray a diluted new coat, but until I do so, the glossy undercoat shows through. This is not the display board for these guys, but I had it laying around.

Once the bulk of the troops are painted, I'll go back and add paint chipping and streaking to their armor. For now though, only the vehicles will be weathered.

  1. That is a sharp looking force, man! Beautifully done all around. Hopefully you can get the sealant to stay down, yikes!

    1. Thanks man! I'm resigned to these guys suffering sealant issues. I'll just respray them periodically. Kind of a high maintenance force these Ultramarines. :)

    1. He just has too much gold crap on him. He doesn't match either of my Ultramarines forces, but he belongs with the Primaris, so he is going to stay with this one.

    1. I have all of the regular interceptors from the box set as well as a box of them to paint up. Loads of infantry incoming!

  4. Hello John,

Some amazing models here, being new to the hobby (just picked up my first bunch of figs a week ago) these absolutely blow my mind.

If you don't mind me asking, what colour blues do you use on those figs? I've done a couple of marines in the Macragg blue, but find that I'm not a huge fan of the colour. Also, is there a "this is how to paint awesomely guide" you would personally recommend? I've watched a couple of more general ones on youtube..

    Thanks in advance!

    1. I appreciate the kind words! I start with a regal blue/black mixture, and then work up through regal, to ultramarines or calth, and then to space wolves grey.

  5. How did you get that beautiful glow effect on the plasma guns? I would love to do something similar on mine!

    1. Vallejo transparent yellow. The light sources are painted white first. Overspray does the glow work.

    1. I use a plaster called Magic Merlin, which is incredibly strong and easy to use.
