Primaris Redemptor WIP
I'm making some progress on the new dreadnought. From some angles I really like the new design, but from others, he just looks top heavy. Like all of my new Ultramarines, this dread was painted to look like it had been through hell. I stiff have rust to add to the exposed metal parts, and dirt to add, but I think this is starting to look as realistic as a giant blue walking robot can.

Awesome, I love the paint chipping on the Redemptor Fist. If I ever started a Tau army thats exactly how I would want them to look. Sadly, I don't have your mad weathering skillz. I tried heavy chipping fluid but it was a disaster.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteJohn, how did you approach the white color for the fist? I oversaw my friend, Sid, as he painted Stormtroopers for Imperial Assault, and I learned just what a pain-in-the-butt painting white can be.
ReplyDeleteIdeally, I would have just airbrushed Sid's Stormtroopers, but that wasn't an option for him. Did you use airbrush or traditional brush, and what paint brand did you use? Through Sid's experience, I have learned to hate many Army Painter paint colors (although I do still like their washes).
I almost always use my airbrush for white. I also don’t paint pure white. This is a blue grey color from GW that looks white by contrast to everything else. I can’t temember the name, but I’ll find out for you.
DeleteUlthuan Grey?
DeleteThat is the one! That is the perfect paint. It thins down incredibly well.
