My Death Guard army is almost playable! I've painted loads of rhinos, and some are more inspired than others, but few of them were completed as quickly as this one. I started this model while on a video chat, and finished it the following morning. It needs paint chipping and additional streaking, but I am happy to add it to the force. I am not certain about the darker green color. That is a byproduct of painting the base colors at night when I can't see so well. I suppose once I have added fresh mud to the model it won't matter. It will blend in with all the other muddy infantry bases and gear.

Death Guard Rhino WIP 1

I think, and this just me but next year for the NOCF you and Mordian 7th should have a build off where you both build and paint a similar sized but conflicting start collecting set for the auctions but have a race to see who can do it faster. Damn it you guys are fast!
ReplyDeleteThat would be fun, though I think I might have an advantage in my heavy use of the air brush.
DeleteI really like the green. I am not to sure about the purple though... it does not have the same depth as the green. It kind of looks a bit of compared to the realism of the rest of the model. I and I concur with Zab, you are moving fast. As usual I am very impressed with your painting.
ReplyDeleteYou are dead on about the purple. It really needs to be more desaturated and have more of gradient.
DeleteAwesome as always. I snuck out earlier and bought the 8th boxed set and have to say that for the first time in four years, I'm excited about WH40k! Seeing models like yours makes me want to start building and painting.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I am so happy to return to 40k. I hope you post images of your painting process so you can inspire people as well. Let's keep passing on the enthusiasm and encouragement to others! :)
DeleteThat darker colour works really well on it, bravo. I advise leaving it on there. The rust is great.
ReplyDeleteI am going to keep it dark. That will allow me to use a contrasting light colored interior.
DeleteGreat Army John!
ReplyDeleteWould you mind sharing the colours used for the green?
I love the orange parts too, but the purple, although I think it can works in small details, for my doesn't work in the door.
Thank you for sharing!
Model color pastel green for the highlights and model air pale green for the darker greens.
DeleteThank you John! Definitely if I put my hands in this models I'm going to try these colours
