Epic 30K Troop & Army Shots
I had a packed of GW rectangular style bases arrive and decided that meant it was time to paint up some infantry. I have one detachment of tactical, three stands of devastators, four stands of terminators, and one captain stand. Once I complete two war hounds, I will have the basics of a nice little Sons of Horus force. I plan to paint up a World Eaters force to complement these. The change in color pallet will help keep the painting interesting. After that, I might have to tackle the Imperial Guard army. I managed to find two pristine Imperial Guard detachment boxes from the Epic 40k relaunch, which includes Valhallans and Catachan jungle fighters. I think those boxes are going to be a bast to paint.
Loving the 30K stuff. Glad to see you are keeping at it. The Sons are looking fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThose are clearly not the correct dreadnoughts.

Nice work though. Do you actually get games in with them. Not much Epic action around me as far as I can tell.
I like those old dreads. I might have to hunt some down.
DeleteEbay or Tactical Command Forum. I think they have better size compared to the modern style. While they are about the same height they are just slimmer:

My not insignificant Epic collection has been in deep storage for over 10 years now. The 30K Epic theme has great appeal to me though and might even tempt the boys out of retirement. I already have some Word Bearers, Plague Marines and demons ready to go too
ReplyDeletePS I'm loving the colours you used for your Sons too - what is it?
DeletePPS Found an old pic of my Word Bearers - sorry its a bit fuzzy but you get the idea

Time to get those out of storage! One of the nicest things about painting epic these days is GW crackle paint. Basing is almost instantaneous.
DeleteThe Sons of Horus use three different colors of paint. The base layer is Jungle Moss, followed by Highland Moss, and then Pale Lichen for the highlight. The paints are from Reaper Master Series.
They look great John! I always wished I had got in on the Epic back in the day, and I hope this recent news from GW that they are getting back into the specialist games pans out.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great looking army
